John McNaught Cromarty Printmaking and Photography Artist

Photography / MonoCrom

I have been photographing the Cromarty Film Festival since 2009. This is a small, quirky festival which takes place annually on the first weekend in December. It draws experts and celebrities who present their favourite films in unusual venues around the town.

Now these images are to form the basis of a project called MonoCrom, to be exhibited during the Film Festival in 2014.

The intention is to contrast monochrome printmaking and photography, by creating a body of work ranging from linocut through wood engraving, etching, photogravure to digital photographs.

It will apply the demands of reportage to printmaking and the composition, mark making and sensitivity of printmaking to photography.

The project is funded by Creative Scotland.
